Zambia Team

Pastor Beau will participate in a mission trip August 18-28. Please keep him and the entire team in prayer.

Before our team departs, please pray for protection for our health, mind, and spirit over each team member (7 of us) and our households.

Psalm 91:2-3: ”This I declare about the Lord: He alone is my refuge, my place of safety; He is my God, and I trust Him. For He will rescue you from every trap and protect you from deadly disease.”

Thursday, August 18-Saurday, August 20

Our team is split and departs at two different times. One team leaves Indy and connects to Qatar flight leaving Chicago, and the other two team members are on a flight from Indy, connecting to their Qatar flight leaving from Boston. Both teams are supposed to arrive within 20 minutes of each other at Qatar on Friday, Aug.19. We have a 9 hour layover in Doha, Qatar (in the Middle East). Then, all team members will leave Doha on Saturday, Aug.20, arriving in Lusaka, Zambia.

Please pray that our teams both fly at our appointed times with no delays. Pray that our supplies and luggage arrive completely and with us every step of the way. Pray that we all stay healthy on our flights and can get some rest during our long layover in Doha. Pray that all of our arrangements and visas will be approved and have no delay in entering Zambia. Pray that as we fly, we prepare our hearts and minds to be the hands and feet of Jesus every step of the way including to those that are serving us on the airlines and those passengers that we come across on the plane and in the airport.

Luke 8:16 “No one lights a lamp and then covers it with a bowl or hides it under a bed. A lamp is placed on a stand, where its light can be seen by all who enter the house.”

Saturday, August 20th

The team arrives in Lusaka, Zambia around 8:30 am. We will have to go through customs and collect our luggage and travel to Moses and Cecilia Sakala’s home. We may be doing some home visits that day. If so, pray for the sponsor children as they meet their sponsors in person or see them, again, after a long period of years being apart since this is the first time in 3 years we have been allowed to come back. There will probably be a lot of emotions on both parts for the orphan and his American sponsor. Pray for rest for our bodies and a blessing upon the Sakala’s home as they are such giving and hospitable hosts.

Matt.11:28 “Come to me all who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”

Sunday, August 21st

Our team will be gathering at a local church and then preparing for our Kids Adventure Camp that evening. Please pray for whomever on our team is preaching that day and that we are mindful of the areas God is preparing us for.

Psalm 33:4 “For the Word of the Lord holds true, and we can trust everything He does.”

Monday -Thursday, Aug.22-25

Our team will be conducting the Kids Adventure Camp for 4 days with our Zambian partners where 350 orphan children will be attending (and staying at the camp). Please pray for each of the participants to open their eyes and ears to hear the Word of God and take it into their hearts. For those who have not yet accepted Christ, we pray they do so at the camp. For our team to work unified and be examples of Christ to the children. For our lessons to be based on God’s truth as we are studying the Book of Jonah. And, finally, that the kids have fun and are all safe and healthy during this gathering. With an extra 100 kids this year, that is a lot of children running and playing and crafting, etc.

Isaiah 55:3 “Come to Me with your ears wide open. Listen, and you will find life. I will make an everlasting covenant with you.”

1 Thes 2:4 “For we speak as messengers approved by God to be entrusted with the Good News.

Our purpose is to please God, not people. He alone knows the motives of our hearts.”

Eps 4:2-3 “Always be humble and gentle. Be patient with each other, making allowance for each other’s faults because of your love. Make every effort to keep yourselves united in the Spirit, binding yourselves together with peace.”

Friday, Aug. 26

Our team will be doing home visits. Prepare our hearts as we visit those children whom team members sponsor and see the poverty they live in daily. Allow our visit to be an encouragement to them.

Matt 5:3 “God blesses those are poor and realize their need for Him for the Kingdom of Heaven is theirs.”

James 1:27 “Pure and genuine religion in sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.”

Eph 4:29 “…Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.”

Saturday, Aug. 27-Sunday, Aug. 28

Saturday is unplanned at the moment except to prepare for our flight back to the States that evening. Help us praise the Lord for the way He has worked throughout this trip.
Our Qatar flight leaves Zambia @ 9:30 pm, connecting in Doha, and then returning to the states through Chicago. Thankfully, the whole team returns together. We arrive back in Indiana around 7:20 pm Sunday, August 28th. Again, pray for our long journey home and returning to the US and our culture. It is often difficult to return to a land of plenty when we are seeing so many in need.

Psalm 115:1 “Not to us, O Lord, but to Your name goes all the glory for Your unfailing love and faithfulness.”
